A heavy coal train leaves the colliery.
Freight train locomotive 50 003 from the Duisburg Wedau depot drives a heavy coal train from the Consolidation colliery in Gelsenkirchen in the mid-1960s. The colliery was a hard coal mine that went into operation in 1865. In 1968 mining ownership was transferred to the newly founded Ruhrkohle AG. In 1993, Consolidation 3/4/9 was discontinued. 50003 was built in 1938 by Henschel & Sohn in Kassel with the serial number 24357 and was not retired until September 28, 1976.
As with almost all of my illustrations, I work from the background to the foreground.
