Locomotive Anna 5
catching water in front of the coking plant
In 1972, steam traction was still the norm at EBV.
The Anna Pit was a hard coal mine of the Eschweiler Bergwerks-Verein (EBV) in Alsdorf in the North Rhine-Westphalian city region of Aachen. For many years, the mine was the largest mine in the Aachen area. In 1854 the mining of hard coal was started. In 1862 the pit was set up by a coking plant for coke and gas production. The coking plant was shut down in 1992 and coal production stopped in 1997.
The locomotive Anna 5 was built by Krupp in 1937 and delivered to the Auguste Victoria union, Marl-Hüls as locomotive VII. In September 1968 she switched to EBV as Anna 5.
In September 1968 she switched to EBV as Anna 5. In 1991 it was sold to the "Trains à Vapeur de Cevennes" railway museum. Here we see the locomotive in July 1972 collecting water on the EBV premises in Alsdorf.
As with almost all of my illustrations, I work from the background to the foreground.
She was drawn on an Apple iPad Pro 12.9 using Adobe Fresco and Kyle T. Webster's famous brushes.
